An offence stipulated in the Law for the Protection of German Blood and Honour, one of the 1935 Nuremberg laws. The law prohibited marriage and any sexual relationship between "Aryans" and Jews. A demand to prohibit race defilement had been expressed as early as 1933, and Der Stuermer waged a venomous propaganda campaign, first to support passage of the law and then to punish offenders by spreading atrocity stories about Jews who seduced young German girls and by publishing the names of suspected offenders. The courts expanded race-defilement to include any kind of close relationship between Jews and Aryans, and Party members publicly humiliated those accused of committing race defilement.
